A Lousy Season Ends On A Positive Note September 28, 2008

Posted by Jim Berkin in Baseball.

Even though the Yankees hobbled throughout the season plagued by key injuries, disappointing performances from high-hopes rookie prospects, and Hank Steinbrenner’s incessant whining, there have been a few rays of light for 2009 showing in the past few weeks. Phil Hughes returned from his injury and had a good pitching outing. Alfredo Aceves pitched masterfully after being brought up from the minors late in the season. Johnny Damon and Jason Giambi had great hitting years, while Jeter and A-Rod continued along.

And today, Mike Mussina FINALLY had a 20 win season, after coming so close in several years over his future Hall Of Fame career. Good for him! AND he was in Wordplay!

Here’s to a better 2009 Yankee team, in a new stadium, and with whatever minor personnel changes happen in the off-season. Don’t be shy about spending money, and HEY HANK STEINBRENNER YOU LOUDMOUTH MORON, KEEP BRIAN CASHMAN RUNNING THE TEAM! Friggin’ idiot…. turning into his dad circa 1988…

UPDATE: Looks like they listened to this whiny old man! Yay!
